Two different interior tastes...

Tanja and Richard from Lexmond both fell in love with a beautiful dyke-side cottage. She is mad about designer and Scandinavian interiors while he has a preference for a no-nonsense and practical approach. The original wooden ceiling beams, the wooden floors and the large, homely kitchen were what made them choose the home. But then it came to designing the rest of the interior, and that’s where things went wrong! After all, how do you combine a no-nonsense style with a designer look?

Richard is a real handyman, and renovated much of the house himself. For the interior, Tanja was hoping for a fairly modern look, but Richard was not keen. He preferred a more homely, practical interior, without too many accessories.

Makeover by vtwonen TV programme back in love with your home

Viktor Brand and vtwonen stylist Frans Uyterlinde went in search of a compromise that suited both Tanja and Richard. Here you can see the before and after photographs. In the living room, Frans opted for sand-blasted Primewood shutters in rustic grey; a tough look in this interior. In the kitchen, he decided on our designer folding curtains (folds).

Admittedly, when Frans sent the order to us, our first thought was ‘are you sure Frans?’. He chose for the JASNO colour Simply Grey for the woven paper in the folding curtain. We recommend a grey wooden strip but Frans, in his usual bold style, opted for the warm, taupe-based Sandy Grey. And what a perfect choice it turned out to be! Two years after this TV programme was broadcast, a couple visited our showroom with the aim of buying exactly the same JASNO folds, after seeing the makeover. And that is the kind of spinoff that makes us happy!
